📋 Installation Guide

1System Requirements

Before installing the BL Scrolling Announcement Bar, ensure you have:

• BigCommerce Store: An active BigCommerce store with admin access
• Admin Permissions: Access to Apps & Integrations section
• Browser: Any modern browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge)
• No Technical Skills Required: The app has a user-friendly admin panel

2Installing the App

Step 1: Navigate to Apps & Integrations

1. Log in to your BigCommerce admin dashboard
2. Click Apps & Integrations in the left sidebar
3. Click Explore or search for "BL Scrolling Announcement Bar"

Step 2: Install the App

1. Click on BL Scrolling Announcement Bar in the search results
2. Click the Install button on the app page
3. Review the permissions requested by the app
4. Click Confirm to proceed

3Authorizing Access

After clicking Install, you'll be redirected to authorize the app:

1. You'll see an OAuth authorization screen from BigCommerce
2. Review the requested permissions (they're minimal and safe)
3. Click Authorize to confirm
4. You'll be redirected back to your store dashboard

4Activating on Your Store

Once installed and authorized, the app appears in your dashboard.

First Time Setup

1. The app dashboard opens with default announcements ready to customize
2. Edit announcements, colors, animation speed, and other settings (see User Guide for details)
3. Click Enable & Save at the bottom
4. The bar is now live on your storefront 🎉

5Verification

To confirm the app is working correctly:

Check Your Storefront

1. Open your storefront in a new browser tab: https://yourstore.com
2. Look for the announcement bar at the very top of the page
3. Verify the text, colors, and animation match your settings
4. Test on mobile devices to ensure it's responsive

In the Admin Panel

1. Return to the app dashboard
2. You should see a blue button that says Save Changes (not "Enable & Save")
3. This confirms the app is active and managing your bar

6Troubleshooting

The bar isn't showing on my storefront

Solution:

• Make sure you clicked Enable & Save in the app dashboard
• Wait 30-60 seconds for the script to deploy
• Hard refresh your storefront (Ctrl+Shift+R or Cmd+Shift+R)
• Check that your theme supports custom script injection (most modern themes do)
• Contact support if the issue persists

The bar shows but text looks wrong or styling is off

Solution:

• Clear your browser cache (Ctrl+Shift+Delete or Cmd+Shift+Delete)
• Hard refresh the page
• Check your color and font size settings in the admin panel
• Verify your theme CSS isn't overriding the bar styles

Animation isn't working

Solution:

• Check that animation direction is not set to "None"
• Verify animation speed is set to a value between 1-100
• Try reducing the speed value for a slower, more visible scroll
• Ensure your browser supports CSS animations

App won't install or authorization fails

Solution:

• Ensure you have admin access to your BigCommerce store
• Try a different browser
• Clear cookies and browser cache
• Disable browser extensions (they can interfere with OAuth)
• Contact BigCommerce support if the issue persists
